Inflammation: Two options -Earthing or Double Helix Water

11/4/2011

Inflammation—this is something I have struggled with for  decades.  It seems to be integrally involved with Melorheostosis of Leri – a condition I have.  More and more supplements are being  offered as an anti-oxidant and it becomes bewildering, which ones to utilize in  my daily routine. As I have gotten older, it takes more and more supplements  (along with using the NES Health system) to keep inflammation at low
levels.

Given that fact, I was pleasantly surprised to find two products that
directly address inflammation during a recent trip to a Bio-Energetics
Conference I was able to attend in North Carolina.  The first comes from a theory called “Earthing”.  I had previously read about the concept in the book “Zapped” by Ann Louise Gittleman.  This book  talked about the tremendous reductions in Inflammation occurring when people  grounded themselves while sleeping and/or working. Joint pain, rheumatoid arthritis, MS were all responding well to Earthing.

The basic concept as I understand it from reading the book “Earthing”by Clinton Ober and others is that oxidation occurs during metabolism
in the cells of the body.  If the body cannot supply enough anti-oxidants then inflammation occurs.  Anti-oxidants work by supplying a free electron to the oxidized molecule.  The Earth has an abundance of free electrons. If a human body is in connection with the Earth, then the Earth can supply the free electrons needed to stop inflammation.

When I saw the Earthing Grounding Kit offered for sale in North
Carolina I decided to try it.  I  can say from having tried it, that this product is effective.

Being an Electrical Engineer, I tried to find the components on the
Internet.  From this attempt,  I believe the company selling the  Earthing Kit is NOT gouging in its pricing of this product– I was unable to beat
their price by comparison shopping on the Internet.  For any of you with inflammation issues, I highly recommend trying this  product.  If you want to read more about it prior to purchasing the grounding tools, then get the books “Zapped” and/or “Earthing”.  Note the book “Earthing” is part of the Earthing Kit.

The second product I found is called Double Helix  Water.  This is an innovative discovery by a Physicist.  It is  the 4th state of water that is a solid at room temperature and can exist in a separate phase in liquid water.  This company had a demonstration booth at the conference with thermal imaging pictures taken of attendees willing to try their product before and after ingestion  of the Double Helix Water.  The pictures reflected a dramatic reduction in heat (reflecting reduced inflammation). I have been using this product also and it is available for my clients but not for shipping  (sorry).  Anyone NOT a client can look on the web for www.doublehelixwater.com   and enquire as to how to get it.   The theory behind the reduction in inflammation is that it works on the Accupuncture Meridian systems and provides a repair.

I will be trying to eliminate other supplements that I use against inflammation to see how far I can eliminate them in my daily routine.  I will, however, continue to stay on  the NES Health Protocol.  I am very
happy at the thought of being able to cut back on the many anti-oxidant
supplements lining my breakfast table.

Alternative Items for the Medicine Chest and First Aid Kit

10/4/2011

A few years ago, I put together some Alternative First Aid Kits as gifts for some friend’s children who were going away to college.  These same items would be good for the home Alternative Medicine Chest also.
Items to consider including are:

Sports Injuries/Accidents/Muscle Aches

 1. Taumeel @ ointment (Heel) for bumps, bruises, sports strains (but not for an open wound).

 2. Deep Tissue@ (Dr. Schulze’s) for muscle strains –external use only.

3. Calendula off 1x (Hyland’s) for rashes.

Upset Stomachs

 4.   Activated Charcoal for upset stomachs – take 2 or 3 capsules.
Follow in an hour with another dose if needed.  Remember that 24 hours later you will likely feel well but have a very black stool from the charcoal.

 5.  Olive Leaf tincture – herbal preparation.

Flu and Colds

6.  Oscillococcinum @ (Boiron) for times one thinks they may be coming down with the flu.

 7.  Chestal @(Boiron) or Umcka @ (Nature’s Way) for coughs.
Chestal @ contains honey which is a proven calmer of coughs.

8.  Vitamin C powder or capsules taken several times a day.   1000 mg at a time will be effective. Too much will cause diarrhea.

Allergies

 9.  Nasopure@ (an easier to use form of a Neti pot) for rinsing out the nasal passages to help with airbourne allergies.  Please use distilled or filtered water as there has been some instances of amoeba's

Sleeplessness

10. Melatonin -- dosage is 1 mg to 3 mg prior to bedtime.

 11.  Sleepytime@ Herbal tea

Toothache

 12.  Coral Calcium powder.  Just prior to bedtime:
Drop a ¼ tsp into the mouth and with the tongue, spread it on the aching  tooth.  Prior to use verify that the pH is neutral or alkaline for the product you select by testing it with a pH strip.  The body will use the trace minerals and the calcium to attempt a repair to the enamel.

Fungally infected toenails:

13.  Vick’s Vapor Rub @ put on the toe nail twice a day. Note that this will take a couple of months to see results.

Note that if sending these items off with a college student, it may be necessary to give them a guideline of what each item is for and how and when to use them.

Another very important item, in my experience is a  Homeopathic Kit (either 30x or 30C potentcy) along with the book Homeopathic   Medicine at Home by Maesmund Panos and Jane Heimlich.
Boiron makes a nice kit but there are many others also available.

What is a Naturopath?

7/14/2011

What is a Naturopath?

I love the word ‘Naturopath’.  To me it conjures up “Nature”,
“Natural” and “Life Path”.  I began  my journey to becoming a Naturopath as a result of health problems that traditional western medicine could not help.  Pharmaceuticals only caused major side effects.  I found relief with  alternative practitioners using chiropractic, acupuncture, detoxification, and  homeopathic methods.  As I delved  deeper into the alternative world, I discovered the word “Naturopath”  encompassed these and other healing modalities.  Now that I have the ND initials after my name, I have found that many people still have not come across that term and  ask what it means.

A naturopath will coach their clients on preventing disease via
a “natural”lifestyle that includes healthy eating, exercise and adequate rest.  Herbs, supplements, tissue manipulation, energy flow, magnetics, and detoxification are among the  methodologies that a naturopath can utilize to promote health.

A naturopath will tend to pick out certain modalities to specialize in  since the field is so broad.  A good naturopath will recommend other practitioners to provide modalities needed by a client but that is not provided by them.

The root cause of disease as taught in naturopathic training is from toxemia.  The toxic buildup can come from problem's with a person's physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or poorly formed energy fields.  A naturopath will coach the client in supportive methods, a healthier   lifestyle, and can use natural, proven tools to help bring the body to a state which supports and sustains health.

One of the hardest things with which people have to come to terms, is that the individual needs to align their life to a healthier way of living.  The modalities available to assist the  body in healing, work best with an accompanying and supporting change in lifestyle.  A naturopath can offer various modalities and act as a coach in achieving a healthy lifestyle for their  clients.

The lifestyle changes that I have found to be important in
achieving and maintaining health include:

 1.     Eating Organically where possible. I find breakfast is the easiest meal to make organic.   There are several fruits and vegetables known to be more pesticides used  on them including strawberries, lettuce and spinach. These are also widely available in their organic forms and are worth searching out.

2.  Eating something ‘raw” everyday.  I  incorporate a raw fruit and a salad almost every day.  Uncooked food contains enzymes that the body needs that are destroyed in  the cooking process.

 3.  Avoid Genetically Modified foods.   This is almost impossible to do if one eats out since it is common in  processed foods. It is prevalent in  foods made in the USA with corn, soybeans and beet sugars.  This is an area in which I tend to fall down since I like visiting with friends while eating at restaurants but there are always healthier restaurantsto select  and healthier selections on each restaurant's menu.

4.  Exercise.  We need to move our bodies.  Lymph circulation occurs due to exercise.   The circulation of lymph helps us get rid of body toxins.  A useful tool is the use of a whole body vibration plate which assists in moving the lymph and building muscle and losing visceral fat ( fat from around the organs.)

 5.   Adequate sleep. Most people do best, and  heal best with 7 to 8 good hours of sleep.  I tend to have trouble applying this to  myself since I have so much I want to do each day.  Still, I know that I need to sleep to stay well.

 6.   Keep the body in the alkaline range.  Food choices impact this one.  Too much protein can make the body acidic.   Many soda’s include phosphoric acid – try substituting water with lemon and some added stevia for sweetness  instead.

 7.  Detoxification. We intake many toxins in today’s age and we need help to get rid of them. Toxic buildup creates inflammation in the body. There are supplements that help us detoxify such as reduced glutathione, alpha lipoic acid, Vitamin C, milk thistle  and Modified citrus pectin.  NES  Health as a modality is also helpful. Other modalities that assist in detoxification include using a far infrared sauna, whole body vibration, and various clays - taken internally or externally.

8. Reduce inflammation. This topic goes hand in hand with the previous one on detoxification. Most people will require supplements and detoxification to achieve meaningful reduction in inflammation. My coaching advice is to add a good multivitamin that is made from whole foods; beta 1-3 glucan, Astaxanthin; and herbs such as blessed thistle. Inflammation is responsible for many of the chronic diseases that we face as we age.

9.  Feed the spirit. This includes a supportive belief system, family and friends.  It is important to love ourselves and others.

 10.  Elimination of sugar (or at least limiting it severely) from the diet will also aid in  reducing inflammation as well as reducing candida colonies.  Cancer loves sugar – that alone is reason enough to limit it in our diets.

When Considering the items listed above, please note how many are under your control.  A naturopath  can provide guidance, encouragement, information, and some energy related treatments but the bulk  of retaining health is your responsibility.  Choose to be healthy.

You can not expect someone else to “make” you healthy.  You need to participate in the process.

Personally, I find feeling well is such a great blessing; it makes so many other things that I want to do with my life possible, so the actions listed above are well worth the effort. I am still working on being consistent with applying the list above to my life. I hope you will decide to make similar choices. as you live your life - I believe you will notice the difference.
