Melorheostosis of Leri and My Life's Journey

My journey to becoming a Naturopath was started by the experiences I had with Western Medicine with health issues like Melorheostosis of Leri as well as other problems.  Over the years, I found that I could not take most of the pharmaceuticals offered – I was always getting the side effects and rarely the benefits.  I started looking at alternatives and found that Homeopathy and Chiropractic along with various supplements offered me the most effective relief for any ailments I encountered.

In the nineties, I was having increasing problems with walking very far – my feet hurt a lot!  After completing a hiking trip where I could barely finish one of the hikes and for the last mile, I was crying in pain with each step, I went to see a podiatrist.  At that point, I was afraid I would never be able to hike again which made me very unhappy.  The podiatrist took an x-ray of one of my feet and showed me how the bone looked like a candle with candle wax dripping.  He said he would get one case like mine every 10 years or so and that he would have to look the disease up in his books before he could talk intelligently.  Prior to refreshing his memory, he told me that he thought it was like rheumatoid arthritis.  I left, resolving to work on this myself with the thought of working on rheumatoid arthritis.

I started adding anti-inflammatory supplements such as beta 1,3 glucan, various herbs  and fish oil capsules.  For many years, I was able to keep my feet mostly happy with these supplements but I would get flare-ups of pain from time to time.  I was going to see the podiatrist about twice a year.  At one point, I asked him to write out the "name" of what I had.  I was not interested at this time in reading up on it since I was keeping it under control for the most part.  However, one day, years later, I looked up the medical term “MeLorheostosis of Leri” that the podiatrist had written out for me, on the internet.   What I read, I found appalling and shocking.  Some people with the condition, get to such a pain level, they have their feet amputated!!  I decided that I would do what I could to prevent that situation from occurring for me.  I already had good results from anti-inflammatory supplements.  I added detoxification routines that I learned from my friend, Kathleen Christ and from reading the books of Dr. Sherry Rogers.   These detoxification routines were also very helpful to me, along with incorporating a better diet.

Then in the mid 2000’s, I started taking NES Health infoceuticals.   My energy levels increased and the episodes of pain in my feet became basically non-existent.  I was so impressed, I decided to take the NES Health classes and purchase a system so I could help my friends and family.  With that purchase and continuing with the NES Health infoceuticals, I found I wanted to learn even more about health and wellness.  At a point in life that some people start thinking about retirement, I started taking classes from Trinity School of Natural Health, started my own small company (LLC), and have now received my Doctor of Naturopathy diploma.

I have come a long way on my health journey and still have some ways to go -- I am sure there will always be new things to learn.  I hope to be able to keep hiking indefinitely.  I will continue with detoxification methods, supplements and NES Health to keep me in the best possible shape. I started my career in electrical engineering.  I am still in an engineering career and have now added another interest.  This new interest is, ironically to me, another aspect of the fields of electricity and magnetics that I started studying in college in my twenties.   I am fascinated with healing frequencies and quantum modalities and feel blessed that I can learn about them and apply them in my life. Based on my experiences, I think that the following might be helpful for a person with Melorheostosis of Leri:
  • Use anti-inflammatory supplements such as fish oil, beta 1,3 glucan, and herbs contained in products like Zyflamend.
  • Stop eating processed foods and GMO foods
  • Start eating organically where possible
  • Use detoxification methods, such as the daily detox cocktail recommended by Dr. Sherry Rogers, the far infrared sauna, modified citrus pectin, etc.
  • Use NES Health Infoceuticals
  • Use of a device such as the Lumen (LED, Far Infrared lights with a frequency imposed) for flareups of pain -- do not overdue the application however.
If you want to put the above strategies for dealing with Melorheostosis of Leri to the test and want to let me know the results, I would be interested in hearing from you.
